The Certificate Program in Orthodox Christian Studies by Distance Learning is the Institute’s core program for all those wishing to engage in in-depth study of Orthodox Christianity — and the Distance Learning context makes it accessible to you, wherever you may be located and whatever your situation.
Equivalent in tone and scope to university level study, this three- (or four-) year program provides a focused exploration of Orthodox history, thought, life and practice on a modular design that allows for the flexible taking of content in a way that best suits your needs. You will be exposed to the rich history of Orthodoxy from its beginnings to practices and customs of the present day, engaging with topics through sustained, interactive guidance with expert Institute instructors.

You will engage in live, on-line video classes instructors and other members of your module cohort; you will have real-time, one-to-one ‘tutorials’ with your lecturers, available in either voice- or video-conferencing format (or in person); you will engage in lectures recorded by audio and video; on-line reading; in interactive assignments that draw you into dialogue with instructors and fellow students; parish interactions; and other means of making your learning experience interactive, engaging, personal and focused.
Your enrollment in the Certificate Program by Distance Learning will also provide you with the opportunity to attend the Institute’s symposia, conferences and study days for credit towards your program.
