Combine Distance Learning with Symposia Events
The Institute offers a regular program of symposia and conferences, which bring together eminent speakers, scholars, clerics, monastics and others who are able to bring to life themes in Orthodox study. Depending on the scope, theme and level, these attract participants numbering from 15 or 20 for focused, upper-level events, to well over 200 or 300 for broader themes and topics.
As an enrolled student in the Certificate Program by Distance Learning, you have the opportunity to incorporate these symposia and conferences into your course for credit. Certificate Program students do not pay the standard registration fee for Institute events, but instead a substantially reduced rate, and participation in such symposia counts for credit on various elements involved in your Certificate modules.
This means the Certificate Program by Distance Learning really does offer you the best of all worlds: If your situation makes a fully distance-based course the best option for you, the program offers one of the richest Distance Learning programs available; and if you wish to include on-site dimensions into your study, to a greater or lesser degree, you can easily and affordably do this.
