Certificate Program Completion Requirements
Awarding of the Institute’s Certificate in Orthodox Studies by Distance Learning is dependent upon a student’s fulfilling the following criteria:
- Successful completion of all of the core modules in the Certificate program (CS01-CS08) within three or four calendar years of initial registration in the program (though extensions may be granted, or an alternative timeline provided, through prior written agreement with the Institute);
- Completion of each individual module by the closing date of the term in which it is offered, with all assignments being completed by their internal deadlines or the closing date of term (as prescribed) and any prescribed Module Essay being submitted no more than one calendar month after the closing date of term; with no period of inactivity longer than three weeks, without previous written permission of the Institute (see detailed guidance on module completion requirements);
- Successful completion of the Certificate Level Dissertation in Orthodox Studies (CS-DIS) within one calendar year of beginning the module, and within the three or four calendar years of registration on the Certificate Program by Distance Learning (or as agreed);
- Full payment of all tuition and fees with no balance outstanding.
‘Successful completion’ means completion of all component parts of a given module (including all Elements and participation in at least two one-on-one tutorials per module), with a final computed grade of at least passing standard.
The Certificate is awarded with a complete transcript that includes all module and component grades, together with a cumulative/overall grade. The overall grade is computed as follows: 11% for each of the modules CS01 – CS08; 12% for the dissertation grade (CS-DIS).
